Stop smoking intervention in emergency departments helps people quit. “At 6 months, more people who received the intervention had quit smoking compared with people who received advice only.”
Feds Say Vapes, and Not Abstinence, Research Priority for Smoking Harms. “Vapes were the only smoking cessation aid that the op-ed authors singled out explicitly. They expressed a particular interest in research that explored whether the devices could be marketed with a therapeutic claim, rather than just as a tobacco product.”
New Hampshire Youth E-Cigarette Use Significantly Down, Record-Low Combustible Use. “The findings are encouraging, with combustible cigarette use at record lows and a significant decrease in youth vaping since its peak in 2019.”
Canadian Advocates Clash Over Calls for Vape Flavor Ban. “Since vaping entered the market, we’ve seen a disturbing pattern of fear-mongering, misinformation and a deliberate effort to push people back towards smoking,”
Smoking reaches record low in Newport as vaping takes over, figures show. “A Department of Health and Social Care spokesperson said: "Vapes can be an effective way for adult smokers to quit, but we have always been clear children and adult non-smokers should not vape."
Youth Vaping Is Down in Massachusetts—But Similar Rates in Neighboring States. “The survey brings encouraging news for policymakers focused on reducing youth tobacco and vapor product use, which have both declined significantly in recent years.”
